His First Day

[Well, Barge, it looks like you have another new face in the infirmary. Despite having just arrived, Dr. Perry Cox is all ready to go in his white coat and stethoscope, sitting at a desk. He looks inordinately cheerful.]

Greetings, everyone. My name is Dr. Cox, but I'd really prefer it if everyone just goes ahead and calls me Perry.

[Wait, what? His smile drops and his eyes widen, alarmed.]

What the-- [He gathers himself and clears his throat.] Let's try this again. Gosh, I am just so excited to get to know all you fabulous people...?

[Now he just looks horrified. He shakes his head and waves his hands a little frantically, then draws one hand out in front of his nose as if to indicate it might be growing, Pinocchio-style.]

Well, now I really can't wait to start making friends-- oh, dear God.
